I 2026 markerer vi 400-årsdagen for bortgangen til John Dowland, en av Europas mest innflytelsesrike renessansekomponister, og John Coprario, en produktiv gambist og gambe-pedagog. I den anledning har BergensConsort gleden av å ønske musikere fra det franske ensemblet Amici Miei velkommen til et unikt samarbeid. Gjennom programmet svarer den menneskelige stemmen akkompagnert av gamber på instrumentale consort-verk, i en syklus som utforsker musikalske skildringer av melankoli og mørke; en påminnelse om hva som bor i oss alle.
In 2026, we mark 400 years since the passing of John Dowland, one of Europe’s most influential composers of the Renaissance, and John Coprario, a prolific viol player and teacher. For the occasion, BergensConsort has the pleasure of welcoming musicians from the French ensemble Amici Miei for a unique collaboration. Throughout the program, the human voice accompanied by viols answers instrumental consort works, in a cycle exploring musical images of melancholy and darkness — a reminder of what lies within each of us.
